It is possible to register working time using different options (for example, a fingerprint device or a smart application), and one additional option is to register working time through self-service on the time sheet.
If you want your employees to have this option, you must first assign it to them under the rights:

To start working time, press the "Start" button on the timesheet:
If certain fields have been set as mandatory by the administrator (for example object, job type or work), the working time cannot be started until the mandatory fields have been selected:
