When you need to update the same field across many time entries — for example, reassigning hours to a different object — Begin's bulk edit feature lets you do it in one action. This article explains how.

How to select entries for bulk editing

  1. Open the Timesheets page

  2. Select multiple entries using the checkboxes on each row

  3. A floating toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen

  4. Click Bulk edit on the toolbar

What you can edit in bulk

The bulk edit dialog lets you change these fields across all selected entries:

  • Object — reassign hours to a different work object

  • Job type — change the job type (if job types are enabled)

  • Job — change the specific job (if a job type is selected)

  • Number of units — update the unit count

  • Comments — replace or append to existing comments

You only need to fill in the fields you want to change. Leave fields empty to keep their current values.

Appending vs replacing comments

When editing comments in bulk, you can check "Append to existing comments" to add your text after any existing comments (separated by a line break). When unchecked, the new comment replaces the existing one.

Which entries can be bulk edited

Only entries that meet all of these conditions can be bulk edited:

  • The entry has a registration (is not empty)

  • The entry is not currently ongoing (employee has clocked out)

  • The entry is not confirmed/locked

If any selected entries are confirmed, the dialog shows a warning telling you how many entries will be skipped.

Important

Bulk editing overwrites existing values for the fields you fill in. A warning is shown before you save. Review your selection carefully before applying changes.
