How to register pauses and objects on a face reader

Using pause and object registration features on face recognition terminals.

Face readers support the same pause (break) and object registration features as fingerprint readers. When enabled, employees can register pauses and work objects directly on the face reader device. This article explains how it works.

Pause registration on a face reader

Pause registration on face readers uses the same company-wide setting as fingerprint readers:

  1. Go to Settings → Biometric terminal

  2. Enable "Is manual break registration enabled in biometric time clock?"

When enabled, employees can select the pause option after identifying themselves on the face reader. The device records the pause start and end times, which appear in the timesheet.

Object registration on a face reader

Object code entry on face readers also uses the same biometric terminal settings:

  1. Go to Settings → Biometric terminal

  2. Enable "Is manual object code entry enabled in biometric time clock?"

  3. Optionally set whether the object code is required or optional

When enabled, the face reader prompts employees to enter an object code after identification. The object is linked to the time entry.

How the workflow differs from fingerprint readers

The workflow is nearly identical. The only difference is the identification method — employees look at the camera instead of placing a finger. All the menu options, object code entry, and pause registration steps are the same once the employee is identified.
