Fingerprint readers can be configured to require or allow employees to enter an object code when they clock in. This links the working time entry to a specific work object (project, site, or client). This article explains how object registration works on biometric terminals.

How to enable object registration

  1. Go to Settings → Biometric terminal

  2. Find the setting "Is manual object code entry enabled in biometric time clock?"

  3. Toggle the switch on

You can also control whether the object code is required or optional:

  • The setting "Is the objects code necessary when starting/ending?" determines whether employees must enter an object code or can skip it

How employees register an object

  1. The employee identifies themselves on the fingerprint reader

  2. The device prompts for an object code

  3. The employee enters the numeric object code using the device keypad

  4. The device confirms the registration and records the clock-in linked to that object

Where object registrations appear

The object assignment appears in the timesheet next to the time entry. This data is used in reports and exports to break down hours by object.

Switching objects during a shift

If an employee needs to switch to a different object during their shift, they can register again on the device with the new object code. Begin records this as a new time segment linked to the new object.
