Fingerprint readers can be configured to allow employees to register pause (break) start and end times directly on the device. This article explains how pause registration works on biometric terminals.
What is pause registration on a device?
When enabled, employees can press a dedicated button on the fingerprint reader to start and end their pauses. Begin records these as separate pause entries, which appear on the timesheet alongside the main working time entry.
How to enable pause registration
Go to Settings → Biometric terminal
Find the setting "Is manual break registration enabled in biometric time clock?"
Toggle the switch on
Click Save changes
How employees register a pause
The employee identifies themselves on the fingerprint reader (fingerprint or RFID card)
They select the pause/break option on the device menu
The device records the pause start time
When the pause ends, the employee identifies themselves again and selects end pause
Where pause registrations appear
Pause registrations appear in the employee's timesheet entry for that day. The pause duration is subtracted from the total working hours. You can view and edit pause times in the timesheet detail view.
Automatic vs manual pauses
If your company also has automatic pause rules configured (in Settings → Pause), device-registered pauses take priority. The system will not apply an automatic pause on top of a manually registered one.
