How time rounding works in Begin

Configure rounding rules for clock-in and clock-out times.

Time rounding automatically adjusts clock-in and clock-out times to the nearest interval. For example, if rounding is set to 15 minutes and an employee clocks in at 07:53, it may round to 08:00. This feature is available to Admins.

How to configure rounding

  1. Go to Settings → Rounding.

  2. Set the rounding interval separately for each type:

    • Clock-in rounding — rounds the start time of a registration

    • Clock-out rounding — rounds the end time of a registration

    • Total hours rounding — rounds the total worked hours for the day

  3. For each type, choose the rounding interval: No rounding, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes.

  4. Set the rounding direction:

    • Equal up and down rounding — rounds to the nearest interval in either direction

    • Rounding up or down — clock-in rounds up (later), clock-out rounds down (earlier)

  5. Click Save changes.

Examples

  • 15-minute rounding, round up on clock-in: Clock in at 07:53 → rounds to 08:00

  • 15-minute rounding, round down on clock-out: Clock out at 17:07 → rounds to 17:00

  • 30-minute total hours rounding: 7 hours 40 minutes worked → rounds to 7 hours 30 minutes

Important

  • Rounding affects the hours shown on the timesheet and in reports. The original raw clock-in/out times are still stored for reference.

  • Each rounding type (clock-in, clock-out, total hours) can use a different interval. For example, you can round clock-in times to 15 minutes but leave clock-out times unrounded.
