Overtime calculation settings define how Begin determines overtime hours and additional compensation. These settings are critical for accurate payroll. This feature is available to Admins.

How to access overtime settings

Go to Settings → Overtime Calculation.

Overtime calculation basis

Choose how overtime is calculated:

  • Monthly basis — overtime is calculated at the end of each period. Enter the Normal hours of a working day, the Period of overtime calculation in months, and the Starting month. Hours exceeding the norm for the entire period are counted as overtime.

  • Daily basis — any hours exceeding the Normal hours of a working day are immediately counted as overtime each day.

Overtime multiplier

Enter the additional rate for overtime. Examples:

  • For 1.5x pay, enter 0.5

  • For 2x pay, enter 1

Pre-holiday shortened day

If applicable, enter how many hours the working day should be shortened on the day before a national holiday.

Cross-month working time

If a shift spans midnight (starts in one month, ends in the next), choose how the hours are assigned — to the starting month, the ending month, or split between both.

Evening hours

Enable Do you wish to take evening hours into account, then set:

  • Evening hours start and end times

  • Evening hours multiplier (e.g., 0.5 for 1.5x pay)

Night hours

Enable night hour tracking and set:

  • Night hours start and end times

  • Night hours multiplier (e.g., 0.25 for 1.25x pay)

Weekend hours

Enable weekend hour tracking and set the weekend hours multiplier.

National holiday hours

National holidays are detected automatically by Begin. Set multipliers for:

  • National holiday hours multiplier

  • National holiday night hours multiplier

  • National holiday evening hours multiplier

Always enter only the additional part of the rate (e.g., enter 1 for 2x pay).
