How to create and manage work objects

Add work sites and locations that employees can select when clocking in.

Objects (also called work sites or locations) represent the places where your employees work. When employees clock in, they can select which object they are working at. This helps track labor costs per location. This feature is available to users with object permissions (typically Admins and Managers).

How to add an object

  1. Click Objects in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Add Object.

  3. Enter the object name (e.g., "Main Office", "Warehouse A", "Construction Site 12").

  4. Add optional details:

  • Address — the physical location of the work site

  • Code — a short identifier for the object

  • Area — the region or area the object belongs to

  • Supervisor — the person responsible for the site

  • Comments — any additional notes

  • Export code — used for payroll or accounting integrations

  • Start / End date — the operational period of the object

  • GPS coordinates and radius — sets the geofence area. When an employee clocks in via the mobile app outside this radius, a warning icon appears on the timesheet. The radius does not prevent clock-in — it is informational only.

  1. Click Save changes.

How to assign employees to objects

By default, new employees are automatically linked to all objects (controlled by the Auto-bind objects worker setting, which is enabled by default). If you want to restrict which objects an employee can select:

  1. Open the object's settings (click Edit on the object).

  2. Go to the Bound employees tab.

  3. Move employees between the Bound and Unbound columns to control access.

  4. Save the changes.

Object statuses

Each object can have one of three statuses:

  • Active — employees can register time here. Visible in filters and mobile app. This is the default for new objects.

  • Inactive — employees can no longer register time here, but historical data remains visible on timesheets and reports.

  • Archived — hidden from timesheets and reports. Can be restored to Active or Inactive later.

To change an object's status, click Edit on the object and select the status from the Status dropdown.

Deleting objects

Warning: Deleting an object permanently removes it together with all historical data about that object — past time entries, reports, and references to it will be lost. This action cannot be undone.

Because of this, we recommend changing the object's status to Archived instead of deleting it. Archiving hides the object from active lists while preserving all historical data for reports and audits.

If you still want to delete an object, click Edit on the object and use the Delete action.
