How to submit a time-off request

Step-by-step guide for employees to submit absence requests through the Begin web portal.

Employees can submit time-off requests through the Begin web portal. Requests are sent to managers or admins for approval.

How to submit a request

  1. Click Requests in the left sidebar.

  2. Click Add new request.

  3. Select the absence type (e.g., Vacation, Sick leave, or any other type configured by your admin).

  4. Choose the start date and end date.

  5. Choose whether it is a full working day request or set specific start time and end time for partial-day absences. When "Full working day" is toggled on, time fields are hidden and the full day is used.

  6. If the absence type has a payment option enabled, select the payment type — either "Before vacation" or "With payslip".

  7. If the absence type requires or allows file uploads, attach any supporting files (e.g., a doctor's note).

  8. Add a comment explaining the reason (optional but recommended).

  9. Click Submit.

What happens after submitting?

Your request enters Pending status and is sent to your manager or admin for review. You will be notified when it is approved or rejected.

If the absence type has auto-approve enabled and your request dates are entirely in the future, the request is automatically approved without waiting for manual review.

Good to know

  • You can delete a request while it is still in Pending status. Open the request and use the delete action.

  • If the absence type has an accrual policy, the form shows your current balance so you can check availability before submitting.

  • Available absence types depend on what your admin has configured and which types you are eligible to request.
