Fingerprint readers allow employees to clock in and out by scanning their fingerprint at a physical device. This article covers the initial setup. This feature is available to Admins.
Step 1: Connect the device
Set up the fingerprint reader hardware according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Connect the device to your network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet, depending on the model).
Ensure the device can reach the internet to communicate with Begin servers.
Step 2: Register the device in Begin
Go to Devices in the left sidebar.
Devices self-register when connected to your network.
The device appears with its name and IMEI.
Configure the device settings (object assignment, registration mode).
Click Save changes.
Step 3: Configure biometric terminal settings
Go to Settings → Biometric Terminal to configure global settings for all biometric devices, such as:
